We are proud to share Counterpoint Community Services’ 2025–2026 Annual Report, a reflection of a year defined by community connection, resilience, advocacy and positive change.
From supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging moments, to strengthening community participation during the Waterloo South Redevelopment, this year’s report captures the incredible work achieved through partnerships, volunteers, staff, residents and community members working together.
Inside you’ll find stories of:
- Community support and family services
- Children’s programs and early intervention
- Community development and resident advocacy
- Housing, health and wellbeing initiatives
- Volunteer leadership and community participation
- Social enterprises creating both social and environmental impact
- International partnerships and capacity building
- Progress towards our new Glebe Community Centre
- The implementation of our new Strategic Direction
Most importantly, the report celebrates the people, communities and relationships that continue to make Waterloo, Redfern, Alexandria, Glebe and Sydney’s inner city such vibrant and resilient places to live.
Community Centres Are Essential Social Infrastructure
One of the messages that emerges throughout this report is the growing importance of neighbourhood and community centres in helping people navigate rising living costs, housing stress, social isolation, mental health challenges and community change.
Yet many community centres across New South Wales continue to operate without dedicated core funding despite playing a vital role in strengthening communities and preventing people from reaching crisis point.
Counterpoint proudly supports the Local Community Services Association’s campaign calling for sustainable core funding for neighbourhood and community centres.

Looking Ahead: The Glebe Community Centre
As Counterpoint approaches almost five decades of community service, we are also looking to the future.
Over the coming months we will launch a community fundraising campaign to help establish the new Glebe Community Centre.
The centre will create a welcoming community hub where residents can connect, access support, participate in activities and help shape a stronger, more connected local community.
This project represents one of the most significant investments in Counterpoint’s future in many years, and we look forward to sharing more details about how people can get involved and support this exciting new chapter.
Thank You
To our members, residents, volunteers, Management Committee, staff, funders, partners and supporters, thank you.
Every story in this report reflects the power of community and what can be achieved when people come together to support one another.
Together we are building stronger, fairer and more connected communities. ❤️
