Our Mission and Partnerships

Counterpoint Community Services is dedicated to fostering inclusive communities through our supported playgroups and strategic partnerships. By collaborating with Alexandria Park Schools as Community Centres (SaCC) and Save the Children Play2Learn Program, we provide essential resources and opportunities for families in Alexandria and Waterloo. Our mission is to empower families by offering safe, supportive environments where children can develop and families can connect, ensuring a brighter future for all.

Our Supported Playgroups

Dobell Supported Playgroup

Located in the Dobell Community Room, this playgroup meets on Tuesday afternoons to support families in Redfern and Waterloo. It offers a welcoming space for community interaction and access to essential services, including health resources and food provisions.

Alex Park School Readiness Program

This program is tailored for children aged 3-5 who are preparing to start Kindergarten at Alexandria Park Community School. Held on Wednesdays during Terms 3 and 4, it focuses on building school readiness through engaging and educational activities.

Community Playgroup

Open to all families in the inner city, this playgroup meets every Thursday at Alexandria Park Community School. It promotes cultural diversity and inclusion, providing a supportive environment for families with emerging needs to connect and grow together.

Collaborative Community Efforts

Strengthening Families Through Partnership

Counterpoint Community Services plays a pivotal role in the Inner City Child and Family Interagency group, a coalition dedicated to enhancing the well-being of families in our community. Through this partnership, we engage in collaborative initiatives that are both evidence-based and community-driven, aiming to provide comprehensive support to families. Our involvement ensures that we are at the forefront of developing innovative strategies that address the unique needs of children and families, fostering a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. By working closely with other child and family services, we are committed to creating a network of support that empowers parents and caregivers, ultimately leading to stronger, more resilient communities.

Voices from Our Community

“I have been coming to the
Community Playgroup for seven years
now; all three of my children have
come to the same group. To see Jo
and Tom over the years has been the
loveliest community connection. The
online adaptation was appreciated
while we were stuck at home”  Jane

“I can’t thank Counterpoint enough for the opportunities their playgroups have given my children. We missed the group; to have it return allows us to see our neighbours
and family again.”
